About the press

Rodniki is Russian for “springs”: the cold springs that rise at the foot of a hill and never freeze, not even in the hardest January. Old stories are like that. They keep running under everything, and every so often someone comes down with a bucket.

Rodniki Press is a small independent press. We publish narrative non-fiction about myth and folklore, fiction that grows out of the same old roots, and new editions of beautiful books that have been out of print for too long. Pictures matter to us as much as words: our books are illustrated with old prints, paintings and photographs, and with drawings made for them.
